Dear Sierra Families,
It is with many strong, mixed emotions that I share with all of you that I will be transitioning to the Summit Head of Schools Washington role in June of 2019. In the role, I will be supervising the leaders at our West Seattle (Atlas), Tacoma (Olympus), and Seattle (Sierra) schools. I am so excited to continue working to support Summit students throughout Washington achieve their potential as we work to achieve our mission together.
I am excited to share that Ayanna Gore has accepted the offer of principal of Summit Sierra for next year. I have witnessed her incredible leadership and commitment to students, faculty, and families. I know you will be in good hands with her as the leader of Sierra. In her place, Aubree Gomez will be joining our leadership team as our Dean of Culture and Instruction. Aubree was a founding teacher here at Sierra and has grown to be one of the most committed and hard-working educators I have had the privilege to know. Stefan Sobiek and Mr. Effland will continue the great work they’re doing as Dean of Operations and Dean of Culture and Instruction respectively.
Ayanna and I would love to meet with families to address any questions they have about the transition and to give feedback as we plan for next year. We would love to invite you for coffee at 7:30 on Monday, April 22nd.
Here is a video we shared with our students today prior to speaking with all of them in their mentor groups this morning.
