Dear Sierra Families,
Do you have enough information to support your student academically? Do you wish your student’s teachers communicated with your more often? Do you read the newsletter on a consistent basis to get updates on what your students are learning in their classes (see Grade Level Updates), to learn about events our school is hosting (see events), or to find great summer opportunities for your students (see Extra Curricular Opportunities)?
We want to hear your feedback to these and other questions in our annual family survey! Please click here to access the survey. We use your responses to set priorities both for our school and as a network. Hard copies are also available at the front desk.
We will be hosting a parent panel at Sierra on Wednesday, April 17th from 3:30pm-4:00pm. This 30 min panel discussion will be a part of a professional development experience for our teachers on communicating with families in culturally responsive ways hosted by Regina Elmi, a wonderful educator, mother, and parent advocate in our community. We would love to welcome as many of our parents as possible to be on this 30 min panel as well as be present for the overall session, which will go from 3-5pm on that day. If you are interested, please reach out to Dan Effland, firstname.lastname@example.org, to let us know how you would like to be involved.
STUDENT CLUB HIGHLIGHT:
API club invited members and teachers to a lunch at Hong Kong Bistro in the International District. Club members and faculty bonded over delicious food and talked about shared cultural experiences. The goal of API club is to create a space for API-identified students and community members to come together to celebrate their cultural heritage and learn more about each others’ backgrounds.
